Which Insurance Do Titusville Eye Doctors Take, and What Will I Pay?

We take most vision plans and medical insurance, and we tell you what you will pay before you come in. Aker Eye Vision Source works with VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, Medicare, Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Tricare at both offices on S Washington Ave in Titusville. More than half of the patients we examined from October 2025 to September 2026 used EyeMed or VSP. On most vision plans the exam is a copay. No plan? We quote the self-pay price when you call (321) 269-2021.

Question 1

Who accepts VSP, EyeMed, and Davis Vision insurance in Titusville?

We do, at both Aker Eye Downtown, 338 S Washington Ave, and Aker Eye Playalinda, 1114 S Washington Ave. Your plan works the same at either office, so pick the one that is closer or the doctor you want. We also take Superior Vision, Spectera, Avesis, MetLife, and several smaller vision plans. Networks change during the year, so call us with your member ID and we will confirm your benefits before you book. The full list is on our insurance page.

Question 2

Do you take Humana, Aetna, Cigna, or Blue Cross insurance?

Yes, all four are on our list, along with UnitedHealthcare, Anthem, Tricare, UMR, Golden Rule, Health First, and Florida Health Care Plans. Most of these are medical plans, so they pay for visits about the health of your eyes. Do not see your plan named? Call anyway. Plenty of plans reach us through a bigger network under another name, and checking takes us a few minutes. Read the plan name off your card when you call and we will look up what your plan covers for the visit you need.

Question 3

Does Medicare cover eye exams?

Medicare usually covers an eye visit for a medical reason and usually does not cover a routine exam for glasses. A medical reason can be diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, a cataract, dry eye, or a new symptom. Medicare usually does not pay for glasses either. Some Medicare Advantage plans add a routine exam or a glasses allowance, and some patients keep a separate vision plan for that part. Tell us why you are coming in when you book, and we will sort out the rest before you arrive. More on eye exams after 65.

Question 4

How much is an eye exam without insurance?

Call us at (321) 269-2021 and ask for the self-pay price. We quote it before you book, along with the cost of a contact lens fitting if you want one. You get the same comprehensive eye exam our plan members get, and age does not change the price of a routine exam here. You will have plenty of company. About one patient in fourteen pays for the visit without a plan, and nobody hears the number for the first time at the front desk.

Question 5

Should my visit go on my vision plan or my medical insurance?

It depends on why you are coming in. A yearly exam for glasses or contacts goes on your vision plan. A visit for a problem, such as dry eye, glaucoma, a red eye, or a diabetic eye exam, goes on your medical insurance. Many of our patients carry both, so bring both cards. If a routine exam turns up something medical, we stop and tell you which card it goes on before we do anything more.

Question 6

Is vision insurance worth it?

For a family that needs glasses every year, a plan through work usually pays for itself with the first pair. For one adult with a steady prescription, the self-pay exam plus a frame can cost about the same as a year of premiums. In that case the plan saves money only if you use the allowance. Call us with the plan you are offered and we will tell you what it would pay here. The vision insurance guide walks through what most plans cover.

Question 7

Can I use my HSA or FSA card, or pay over time?

Yes to both. We take HSA and FSA cards, along with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. For a larger purchase, such as a pair of glasses and frames or a course of treatment, you can pay over time with Cherry, CareCredit, or Afterpay. We can set any of the three up with you at the front desk of either office. Ask when you book and we will tell you what your plan leaves for you to pay.
